High process speeds are a standard requirement for high efficiency. Optical camera systems and the use of several robots in perfect synchronization were the key to our solution for our installation for a fish processing company.
PROBLEM
Development of a system component for orientation of packages placed on a high-speed conveyor belt.
FRAMEWORK CONDITIONS
In the actual project, however, the belt transports welded salmon slices at a speed of 40 m / minute, and the decisive parameter according to which the packages are to be oriented fully automatically is the cutting direction of the fillet slices. All this, of course, has to be achieved in a very confined space – a real challenge!
SYSTEM SOLUTION AND IMPLEMENTATION
In addition to an intelligent camera solution and a compact robot duo, this requires perfectly matched interfaces – mechanical, electrical and software. The installation space must be optimally utilized, which means that the web technology must be aligned almost seamlessly.
The distance between the camera and the first robot must be very small. At the same time, the camera technology needs sufficient time to capture image data, evaluate it, generate commands and deliver them just in time to the robot whose turn it is.
