The HEIDENHAIN KCI 120 Dplus inductive rotary encoder provides position feedback both upstream and downstream from a robot joint’s gear system. To achieve this dual measurement, the encoder employs a single inductive scanning unit with two separate circular scales. By measuring the axis position downstream from the gearbox, the encoder compensates for the inaccuracies inherent in highly articulated robots.
To ensure maximum versatility, the KCI 120 Dplus is available in three versions. Their variously sized central scanning unit and two separate disk/hub assemblies cover a range of hollow-shaft diameters and installation dimensions. All variants of the HEIDENHAIN KCI 120 Dplus feature a compact form factor, easy integration and the equal functionality.
The KCI 120 Dplus and its variants expand the spectrum of possible robot applications, up to and including high-precision machining tasks. And when used with the functionally safe EnDat 2.2 purely serial interface, these encoders are even suitable for safety-related applications such as cobots for human-robot collaboration.
