Consistent and safe communication facilitates the commissioning as well as the operation of machines and systems. The COMBIVERT F6 and Servo Drives S6 drive controllers from KEB Automation offer integrated safety functions directly in the drive – also with PROFIsafe. In the F6 device variant APPLICATION Ethernet-based bus systems are switchable via software and thus enable a flexible fieldbus connection to the higher-level control level, for example via PROFINET. Communication via the safe PROFISafe fieldbus protocol has been integrated and certified in the devices.

PROFIsafe supplements the already existing safety functions in encoder-related applications. In classic safety solutions, dangerous operating states are detected and prevented by external safety modules. However, in applications with compact motors or even in high-frequency spindle motors, encoder attachment is often not possible. Here the encoderless safety, implemented in the COMBIVERT F6 Drive Controller and in the S6 Servo Drives in the PRO variant from KEB Automation, offers many advantages: Among other things, conventional wiring is no longer required and the effort for maintenance and servicing can be reduced.
