The Formlabs Fuse 1 makes SLS 3D printing user- and beginner-friendly. The innovative machine enables companies to produce nylon-based prototypes and small batches, combining production-ready technology with high cost efficiency. Compared to industrial SLS 3D printers, the Formlabs Fuse 1 requires only a tenth of the financial outlay, with the same product quality.
One reason for the enormous efficiency of the Fuse 1 is the powder recovery system, which returns unused powder residue from printing processes to the material tank. This permanently reduces material consumption and material procurement costs for users. Powder recovery is implemented in the Fuse Sift post-processing system, which not only helps with material recovery, but also with part removal and powder storage as well as mixing. No other machine in the SLS field offers users such a wide range of capabilities.
Currently, two materials are available to be processed on the Fuse 1. Nylon 12 is the all-around powder for SLS 3D printing, allowing users to combine stability and accuracy. The high-performance material is ideal for use in prototyping as well as the production of durable end-use parts. The recently introduced Nylon 11 Powder is a material for high-performance, high-ductility parts that need to withstand mechanical stresses particularly well. Compared to Nylon 12 Powder, Nylon 11 Powder is more flexible, less brittle, and better suited for printing thin walls – optimal for printing highly stretchable, rugged parts.
